Introduction
Albany HR partnered with a small charity to provide comprehensive HR support. We began by conducting a thorough HR audit to assess their current HR practices, policies, and systems against their strategic and operational objectives. The audit identified areas for improvement, actions to take to enable the achievement of the organisations strategic aims and ensured compliance with employment law. Following the audit, we provided tailored support to help the charity enhance productivity, its HR processes and improve employee satisfaction.
Background
Our client was experiencing growth and expanding their services. To support this growth, they engaged us to assist with employee relations and HR framework development. During the HR audit we assessed their current practices, culture and areas for improvement. After this we worked closely to implement those changes which the client deemed to be the highest priority.
Our Approach
The HR Consultant spent three days in the organisation, meeting with a board member, the CEO, and a key line manager to gain a comprehensive understanding of the HR policies and procedures, employee voice, learning and development in, culture, and values, as well as their experiences. This included a thorough review of HR documentation, such as contracts, policies, and procedures, to ensure compliance with employment legislation.
The consultant also analysed pay and reward structures within the charity and discussed its long-term goals and strategy. A review of data management practices was conducted to address GDPR compliance, a significant concern for the client. Additionally, recruitment, performance management, and employee relations processes were assessed to ensure they were fit for purpose.
The consultant then produced a report outlining findings and recommended actions, presented using a traffic light system. Items under green headings were identified as areas to monitor moving forward. Amber headings indicated areas requiring development or support in the future, while red headings highlighted high-priority issues that needed immediate attention.
Ultimately the aim of the HR audit for our client is to work towards improving employee morale and creating a positive work environment in which employees can thrive and achieve their potential, doing meaningful jobs and supporting the aims of the organisation.
Conclusion
Our HR consultant created a report that prioritised recommendations using a green, amber, and red system. This approach allowed our client to implement the recommendations on a schedule that suited their needs. Since then, the charity has continued to expand its services and grow its workforce.
